Smoke jumper photos. Bill Moody in white jump suit in October 1977, on the US-Soviet technical exchange program, representing the US smokejumper program. Location - Ust Illimsk, eastern Siberia. One of two demo jumps with Russians jumping with American equipment. The plane is an AN2, a popular smokejumper airplane. This first jump was windy, according to Bill Moody, but both he and the Russian jumper landed about ten to fifteen feet from the target. Photographer Doug Bird. |
